kaliningrad
I was brought up believing that Russia did not have an all season seaport. I was taught wrong it seems, as the Kaliningrad Oblast (region) of Russia is on the Baltic Sea between Poland and Lithuania. It seems that after World War II Russia was given the old German East Prussian territory.
The population of Kaliningrad in 2002 was 430,003. In comparison in the US the populations of cities about that size according to the 2005 information are:
Cleveland, Ohio 452,208 Kansas City, Mo. 444,965 Mesa, Ariz. 442,780 Virginia Beach, Va. 438,415 Omaha, Nebr. 414,521 Oakland, Calif. 395,274
Thus I was expecting a fairly nice sized international airport. What I found was:

No train or bus to the airport either. Only a private car or taxi.
I should mention in fairness that I understand there is a second domestic
airport although I never did see it so I don't have any idea what it looks
like.
