event - Rural Germany - 1400’s
Lives Affected: B., C., D., F., H., R., S.
Event Summary: R. married H. It seemed to be a good marriage. R. and H. had several children (B., C., D., F., and S.), unfortunately one of the children (F.) was born with a birth defect that did not allow him to walk.
- The birth of F. with a birth deflect made it difficult to have enough time, energy, or income to afford to have a child with a birth defect. R. decided that in order for the rest of the children to have to survive that the family could not afford F. Thus R., without telling H. as he did not wish to place an additional burder on her, took F. to the wood pile one day and killed F. with an axe. Might mention that H. had a weak constitution.
- Unfortunately H. was looking out the kitchen window at the time and saw what happened. H. could not accept the lost of her child and therefore immediately went to a nearby lake and drowned herself. Question as to whether H. took S. (a baby) into the lake and drowned her also.
- R. was then left to raise the other children by himself.
Need history of birth defects and which defect F. had. It seems that in the 1400’s the Catholic Church declared that newborns have a soul.
Event Reflections :
- B., C., D., and S. were affected by this as they lost both a brother and their mother on the same day. This event thus affected them for the rest of their lives. B. and C. were old enough that they understood a little of the reasons for the event, but it still made their lives more difficult. It did help them learn the importance of accepting responsibility at an early age. D. and S. were younger.
- F. died in this event. He was born with a birth deflect in this life posisbly because of physical damage did had done to others in previous lives.
- H. killed herself. By killing herself she “ran away” from the acceptance of responsibility. She “abandoned” her husband and her children. This will come back in future lives where she will feel as though she was “abandoned” by her parents.
- R. was then left to raise the other children by himself. R. reflected though out the rest of this life-time whether he made the correct decision. He was fairly sure he did in regards to killing F., but thought that he should have had more faith and trust in H. and thus discussed with her his decision.
How should I indicate the spiritual age (or development) of each person? Should I indicate the sex of each person?
